Your Omer Spiritual Journey

A four-session online course with Rabbi Jill Zimmerman

What journey are you on right now?

  • Dealing with a new set of circumstances?
  • Learning to become who you truly are?
  • Breaking free from old patterns?
  • On a healing journey or recovering?
  • Making a move - physically, emotionally, or spiritually?

Every spiritual journey is about moving from the "known", through the wilderness of the "unknown" and hopefully emerging stronger on the other side.

Journey is a profound theme in Judaism, and most poignantly at this time of year.

Beginning right after Passover, we count the 49 days until the festival of Shavuot. This period of time, known as Counting the Omer is of great spiritual significance and transformation. And it's all about journeying.

Your Omer Spiritual Journey Course

In this course, we look to Jewish texts and metaphors and deeply explore the principles of the Spiritual Journey. Our sessions help you create a map of the territory, and tools to better navigate the unknown. Through Jewish texts, discussion, poetry, and music, we explore the themes of this season and apply them to our own lives:

Session 1: The Map of the Territory: “By Walking, One Makes The Road”

Session 2: The Winding Path Through the Wilderness

Session 3: Not Knowing ("Living the Questions")

Session 4: Friends, Faith & Arriving

Why is now the time?

As we embark on our personal spiritual journeys, we often find ourselves searching for the right time and place to delve into our innermost selves. The 49 days between Passover and Shavuot, known as Counting the Omer, provide us with a powerful opportunity to do just that.

For seven weeks, we embark on a collective journey of self-refinement, moving from our narrow places through the wilderness and into a deeper understanding of ourselves and our relationship with the Divine.

We are in the realm of transformation. This course is a guide along the way.

Each session includes:

  • A core text that illuminates a foundational principle.
  • A spiritual practice (meditation, guided intentions, prayer) to deepen your experience.
  • Poetry and music that speaks to transformation in creative ways.

  • Journey as our course workbook, with supplemental texts and poetry.
  • Recordings of each session if you can’t attend live.
  • Choice of two separate times to accommodate different time zones.
