A 4 session “virtual” webinar* that you can participate in LIVE or listen to at your convenience!
August 22, 29,
September 5 & 12, 2017
4 consecutive Tuesday evenings
6:00 pm – 7:00 pm Pacific time (live)
Each year, we begin again. We journey back to our Source, our selves, our souls. The high holy day period is one in which we turn ourselves around.
We remember who we are.
Each year, we have the opportunity to dip into the most profound stories of our people – from exile to return, from brokenness to wholeness, from separation to unity.
Like salmon swimming upstream, we are moved by an invisible force beckoning us to reflect, to make amends, and to re-commit to our soul’s highest purpose.
The promise of this season is nothing less than transformation. The only catch is that we each need to do our own work. Whether you attend synagogue services or not, whether you find the rabbi’s sermons powerful or the cantor and choir’s music uplifting — the High Holy Days only “work” in the deepest sense if we do our own soul “work.”
This 4 session course offers a map to the territory of this journey. You will learn how all the elements and metaphors fits together. Each session includes a core story from the Jewish tradition that illuminates the path and mindfulness practices to deepen the experience and meaningful discussion. We will draw on ancient texts as well as modern poetry and song.
Everyone is welcome: the community we create together will be one of compassion, listening and openness.
Come join us on this journey.

Here is a sampling of the comments from people who participated in Spiritual Preparation for the High Holy Days.
“Your class has been a priceless gift. It is like receiving my life back.”
–Judy B., Maryland“The best part of Rabbi’s Jill’s course was her facilitation and skill in creating sacred space. The experience helped to ground my daily life more deeply to Torah and ultimately to a new depth of healing. Rabbi Jill’s work helps me bridge secular frameworks for mindfulness with Judaism. My favorite part of participating was meditating in my own bubble bath with the recording on my own schedule and with people from all different time zones. Rabbi Jill is a teacher who encourages deep contemplation and respects students’ growth at our own pace. Also, she nurtures thought in connection with the heart. The course materials were exciting, complex, accessible, useful and growth enhancing. . I look forward to ongoing work in this community.”
–Marla M. from Washington“I thank Rabbi Jill with a full and grateful heart for being our gatherer and collecting such inspiring bits of Rabbinic/Chasidic wisdom and beautiful and moving poetry and music. The phone format created a surprising level of intimacy and focus. Our group gave my mind food for thought, my heart a safe place to feel more fully and my soul a chance to fly higher.”
–Judy Weintraub, California“Rabbi Jill Zimmerman’s on-line telephonic course “Spiritual Prep for the High Days 2015″ was a crucial–and new–step for me in my Jewish growth and return. After years of being a congregational rabbi—and after a year of deep quiet and sabbatical—Rabbi Jill’s soothing voice and the powerful community she developed was the perfect path back to my congregation as Emeritus rabbi. Rabbi Jill’s vision of coming home, of returning to our deep path; her guided meditation to bring that vision into my body, and her community of kind acceptance was just what I needed to start this new part of my life and to come home to my community. What a deep joy it was.”
–Rabbi Rim Meirowitz Rabbi Emeritus, Temple Shir Tikvah, Winchester, MA“It has been almost a month now since the Spiritual Preparation class and I am still holding the experience in the forefront of my daily awareness. Rabbi Jill brought life to the High Holy Days, our Jewish experience and its rich history and moved me in ways that impacted me for the rest of my life. The class was exactly what I needed. It was spiritual, educational and heart touching. Honestly I don’t know if I can find the words to express how much the experience meant to me. Thank you.”
–Deanne E., California“This class (had both) heart and depth of internal analysis. (Because of this course) I’m approaching this new year with a sense of peace and calm. Love it!! Thank you for providing this opportunity, and I look forward to hearing more about the next group.”
–Denise K., Texas“Rabbi Jill’s class was about transformation and connection, teaching us that the work of the Holy Days is about digging deeply into who we are, heightening our awareness, and extending ourselves in humility and teshuvah to those we love and those we come in contact with. Thank you.”
–Barbara S., California“I want to thank Rabbi Jill for the journey we have taken together. The High Holidays will never be the same for me again.”
