We sit on the cusp of a new year: 2019. We now move into greater light in many ways. Not only is the light increasing as the days get longer, the turning of a new year can be a time of new choices and new behaviors.
The question always is how we can remain centered in the swirl of intense change and conflict, which is the water in which we now all swim.
I love this quote I ran across just this morning from Rabbi Jonathan Omer-Man (photo). It reminds me how important it is to stay connected to that deep inner place of calm/center within. Regular meditation practices helps me remember and revisit this place.
I veered off track this past year, often waking up to check the news for the latest outrage, rather than meditate and do my morning spiritual practice FIRST* and then, check.
My goal this next year is not to totally disengage, because if there is one thing I’ve learned in the past two years, it’s how imperative it is to pay attention and take action. But – I’m not going to sacrifice my own health and well-being in the process. Publicly proclaiming an intention is one great way to create accountability.
What are you hoping to commit to in 2019? I’d love to hear. Either comment here or drop me a note:
