Tonight we light the 8th candle for Chanukah and ask the final question, which is about JOY & Laughter.
Tonight’s question is this:
What 8 things bring you joy or laughter?
- Watching birds soaring on the shifting currents of the air. It makes me stop for a second and ponder that feeling of just letting be…I also love watching the hummingbirds and yellow finches in our backyard. And guess what? We often hear an owl and have seen her fly with her huge wing span. Wow.
- Without a doubt, our dog Bo brings joy every single day. He a character, and so sweet and reminds me to just be. The way he runs with abandon is exhilarating. He has many Twitter fans. Here are a few of the funny videos of him.
- Music brings me enormous joy. I created a YouTube playlist for uplifting music. You can find it here.
- Laughing Out Loud: Certain videos are guaranteed to bring me joy because they make me laugh. Here is one of my favorites (Mateo who wants cupcakes and his mom LINDA)
- Dancing: I’ve always been a dancer, and it lights me up. Why don’t I do it more often?
- Teaching: When I have taught a piece of wisdom, or shared Torah, it is the most joyful experience. The process of creating a teaching these days feels like art – I start with a whole bunch of various texts and ideas and it feels like chaos at first. I wonder if it will ever be cohesive, and I despair a little . But slowly, it all gets combined into one piece with beautiful parts and it’s profoundly exciting.
- Jigsaw Puzzles – I grew up doing jigsaw puzzles. During this pandemic, I started to crave a puzzle project. There is something so satisfying about looking at all the pieces and thinking – how will we ever put this together – and then little by little, the pieces fit. We’ve done 4 1000 piece puzzles since March.
- Chevruta/partner studying. I have a few new study partners this year, which means I have two new friends 🙂 I learn so much that I wouldn’t see on my own.
Now it’s your turn.
